Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven…

…but nobody wants to die.

It happens over and over again… we state our intention to make it big, be a success, have a great salary, great house, great family, great vacation. We see the vision clearly — bright images of a bank balance with more than one comma, a photograph of the house on the bluff overlooking the ocean or the mountain ski lift, or a month-long photo safari across the African tundra.  Somehow, though, our dreams remain illusive.

In our dreams the options are endless.

The reality is that we all want to go to Heaven, but we don’t want to die.

Stairway to Heaven, Painting by Jim Warren

We all want to have or do the things we dream about, but we’re not always willing to do what must be done to achieve them. Or we get so caught up in playing catch-up that we put the steps we need to take aside… until tomorrow. Then tomorrow turns into next week or next year, or worse yet, “someday.”

Nobody said you have to do everything right now. But you do have to do  something. Movement creates energy, energy creates momentum, and continuous momentum eventually gets you where you want to go.

Just For Today:

Choose one thing from your list of dreams, and one step you can take right now towards it’s achievement. Then do it. When your Little Voice says, “This won’t help,” say, “Thank You” and keep going. Then write down how it felt.  If you’re up for it, commit to doing one more thing each day this week, or one thing each week for the next month. The point is, commit to doing something, and follow through on your commitment.

P.S. We’re on our way to Heaven and plan to see you there…
